Frequently Asked Questions

  • Anyone of our mixes are great to start with. You can switch from kibble to raw immediately without a transition period, but we would suggest that you transition slowly. Not all pets are the same and some handle the transition differently then others.

  • After you receive order confirmation, we will have your order ready to go the day you chose for pickup. We have an outside freezer where you can pickup your order. If you can’t make your pickup and would like to pickup on another day, please contact us as soon as possible. We can’t fit all orders in the outside freezer and may have to place your order back inside.

  • We have 2 boxes: a small box and a large box. The small box will hold 20 pounds of food and the large box will hold 36 pounds of food. You can mix 1-pound and 2-pound containers as long as you don’t go over 20 pounds or 36 pounds. If you want more than 36 pounds, a second box will be added.

  • We ship all frozen food in coolers that will keep it frozen for two days, (longer in the winter). If you don't think your food will make it in two days, 2nd day air may be the best option. Click here http://www.fedex.com/grd/maps/MapEntry.doto see the FedEx shipping map. Keep in mind we are in eastern Ohio. If you choose ground shipping, we are not responsible if the food is thawed or spoiled when it reaches your door.

We ship Monday - Wednesday in case FedEx leaves your box on the dock over the weekend. They have gotten better and have been delivering on the weekends to home addresses, but that isn’t always the case.

  • It all depends on the size of your pet. The recommended amount is 2-3% of your pets body weight per day. But ultimately, you should observe your pet for proper feeding proportions..

  • You should never feed raw meet and kibble together, your pet will digest the two foods at different rates. This can cause discomfort for them. If you want to supplement kibble with the raw to help with the transition, we would suggest that you feed them 4-6 hours apart; one for breakfast and one for dinner for example.

  • Our mixes are made with fresh USDA grade meats and vegetables. We package the meat within a few days of the animal being processed. Our meat and vegetables are always fresh when packaged, but we do not recommend keeping thawed meat past 3-5 days. It may be necessary to start with 1 pound containers if you think 2 pounds will last longer than 3-5 days. Treat your pet's food like you would your own.

  • Dogs and cats have digestive systems that can handle bacteria and raw meats that humans have trouble with. All our mixes are made with fresh USDA meats and vegetables, but you should always use safe handling procedures and be sure to wash your hands, utensils, and your pet’s dish.

  • No, but remember, we are imitating the diet of a wolf. Wolves, and people for that matter, do not consume complete balanced meals every time they eat. Wolves receive all of their nutrition over the coarse of multiple meals. So, if you feed your dog different Balto Raw Farm Fresh mixes throughout the week, your dog will receive the proper nutrition.

  • Unfortunately we do not do returns due to the perishable nature of our products. If you have any issues, please contact us and we will do what we can to fix the issue.
